Is eBay The Greatest Online Marketing Research Tool Ever?
There’s a lot of ways to make money online. Let’s face it though, there’s always going to be a “Product/Service” and Marketing/Selling involved, there’s no way around it if you want to start any Business.
I think a lot of people whether they are on the buying or selling end misunderstand this fact. Even if you’re affiliate marketing you’re selling, if you’re writing articles for people, you’re selling. There’s no way around it, you’re always going to be selling something, even when people go to get a job they are selling themselves to the company.
Now, with that said…
One thing the Internet has brought Marketers is a vast amount of usable data. The majority of it is completely free, and it is worth more than any product out there that will show you how to make a buck online.
So, since we know we NEED a product/service and there’s no way around it, the first thing you want to do is find a product that’s already being sold successfully. This is where most people get confused or blow their entire opportunity to actually make money instead of waste money.
Find what’s already selling and sell it!
If the goal is to make money, and that’s really the bottom line, unless you have some insane passion with something specific, sell what’s selling, join the trend, make your product the best/unique it can be, ride the cash wave until it’s dead, in the meantime while it is selling, search for new opportunites, enter those markets, rinse and repeat.
It may sound trivial, and it is. You want to capture a share of the pie, you don’t want to make a new pie (unless you’re already filthy rich, which I doubt you are yet).
Here’s a few facts about that show even large companies are trend followers.
- Burger King opens restaurant in the same locations as Mc Donalds does. Very few times will you see a Burger King without a Mc Donalds near by and you will rarely see Burger King First. They Simply play follow the leader.
- Once a market is penetrated and proven large companies create competition for themselves by selling competing products they themselves manufacture under different names, essentially the same products with different labels.
- Go to your local supermarket and look down the pill isles, how many of the same products under different names can there possibly be? You be the judge, I get a headache reading the labels to find out theres 50 names for the same thing.
Just ask yourself how many different companies make the same thing/similar products and you’ll be shocked. Innovation costs a lot of money, Online research using the right tools takes little time and can produce enormous incomes.
Ok, so what are we going to do with ebay? Simple. Find what’s selling and copy them.
Just go to eBay and do a search for anything (having problems coming up with search ideas? Use the eBay popular keyword tool, it will tell you what people are searching for or eBay Pulse which will show you the most popular items being watched on eBay).
Once your search results come back, scroll down and on the left you’ll see “Completed Auctions” depending on your browser you will have to simply click “Completed Auctions” and the page will refresh showing you auctions that have ended OR check the box and click the search button again.
Then go through the listings with green prices (that means there was at least one successful buyer, sometimes you will see 100 buyers for multiple buy it now purchases) and click on them to see the persons feedback rating and more information about the product.
So in real time you can see what people are actually BUYING. Find a trend in these and you can enter the market on or off eBay and increase your chances of success 100 times.
To Success!
