No matter what product or service you’re selling you should always be thinking…
“If I had to give this away for FREE could it still generate income?”
If the answer is no you might want to rethink what you’re doing.
Weaving residual income programs or offers into your work allowing you to do work once and get paid for many years to come is true way to generating wealth.
That’s why sometimes you could actually make more money giving away your product
or service. This is obviously going to depend on the price and value or
the product and your distribution channels (affiliate programs, amazon etc).
The general rule I go by is if you can’t get at least a 1.5% conversion with PPC
traffic and sell the product for at least $29.95 AND/or you don’t have really good converting backend product, then it will, most likely be more profitable to give it away.
Of course if you had a really great backend product that was converting from a lower price say $9.95 or $19.95 then congratulations. Otherwise follow the quick rule above.
What you could also do is create a smaller version of your final product and then have them upgrade to the full version inside the ebook.
This allows you to use more distribution channels to get your free copy infront of
more eyeballs.
